What's your experience coaching teams toward being Agile?

I am the manager of a team of 15 people that went from a waterfall development model to extreme programming in March of 2003 (XP by 3/03). We've been using extreme programming, making mistakes, learning from those mistakes, and trying different ways to improve on the mistakes without abandoning extreme programming or agile ideas.

Late in 2007 our company was purchased by Parametric Technology Corporation. PTC has been piloting scrum in several of their development teams and is now ready to roll it out to a larger organization (600+ people). I've been asked to lead the effort to bring agile into PTC's Windchill organization, and to do it without sacrificing the CMMI certification which PTC has received.

What do you plan to learn /explore at this conference?

I want to explore the challenges, road blocks, hurdles, and difficulties encountered when scaling agile to large teams spread across multiple continents, cultures, and responsibilities.

How do you plan to contribute?

My assignments at work have changed enough that it does not make sense for me to attend Agile Coach Camp. I also failed to notice that it collides with my son's high school graduation. I won't be able to attend. I hope to persuade my replacement from work to attend Agile Coach Camp, since the scrum roll out to the large team is still happening, even though I'm not involved in it.

I had planned to share some of our mistakes, some insights and a few observations I've made during the last five years with an extreme programming implementation.

You can read some of my blog entries on agile as another way to see how I will contribute to Agile Coaches Camp.
