- What's your experience coaching teams toward being Agile?
We are both Project Managers with a strong faith in XP. One of us has two years of experience and Scrum certification and the other is a business analyst/quality assurance analyst turned project manager with a few months of experience as a PM. With varied experiences, we both suffer the same challenges that many companies and people experience when a company has implemented agile. We have also experienced hardships within our company since late 2007 when our corporation decided to dissolve our PMO. We’ve both been very successful using the agile methodology and we are firm believers in the process however, through this difficult time, we find this to be the perfect opportunity to learn how to maintain process with the loss of our previous PMO.
- What do you plan to learn /explore at this conference?
We hope to explore strategies used by others on how to best coach non-IT people about the process and to share our experiences with others.
We are also looking forward to networking with others to gain other perspectives, learn other’s challenges and solutions, and finally to learn how to implement agile into a company that believes it is following all of the principles but in fact, is still very much a waterfall organization.
We also want to take the perspective of being a student versus always being the teachers.
- How do you plan to contribute?
We plan to contribute from our varied experiences, perspectives, ideas, thoughts and passion for agile. We also plan to contribute by asking the difficult questions, and by showing no fear in expressing our opinions and thoughts.
